FAQ

Our homestays are in residential suburbs of Dublin and are easily accessible by public transport. The accommodation is arranged so that commuting to school and workplaces requires only a single mode of transport. Please note that homestay accommodation may not be available in the city centre.

We ensure that our host family’s are in good family areas, with excellent transport services. All of our families are visited regularly and are carefully selected by our accommodation manager.

Guests will have a house key for flexible arrival times. Families hand over you the keys on the day of your arrival.

Most of the families have rules you should respect therefore it could be that you cannot enter the house late at night.

This depends on the family. If you have chosen a meal-inclusive accommodation, the host may not allow kitchen use. If you have chosen a self-catering accommodation, you can use the kitchen to prepare your meals.

If the family have another room to rent, there could be another student or guest. However, we do not mix individual guests of the same nationality or mother tongue in the same family, unless specifically requested. So the other guest will not be from the same country.

All host families have their meals at different times, and while they try to eat at the same time as their students or guests, this isn’t always possible due to course times and excursion return times. If you arrive late, your meal plate ready for you.

We have families who can cater for special accommodation, dietary, or other needs, which our students or guests may have, provided we are informed of them in advance. These families are subject to availability and must be booked in advance. Examples of these are: vegetarian diets, dislike of household pets, requirement for children of the same age, etc. A supplement fee may apply to certain special dietary requirements.

Your room should have fresh bed linen and be clean and comfortable, you should bring your own towel and toiletries. Your host will show you the general area, where to catch bus, tram, train etc, local shops for bus tickets etc. If you have a package inc meals, your host will provide you with a good standard of meals.

You should discuss this with your host family on arrival!
General house rules would be;
Be respectful to everyone in your host family
No guests permitted in your room without consulting your host first
No smoking inside the host home
No drinking, alcohol, drugs
If you have any issues discuss them with host first, they will try to address them
After 9 pm keep noise to a minimum
Tidy up after yourself
If you are on a room only package discuss with your host when you can use the kitchen and laundry(buy your own detergent)
Clean the kitchen and other areas after using it.
Use please and thank you, our hosts love good manners

A specified deposit is required. Deposits are refunded 10 business days after the end of the stay, provided no damage has been caused to the property.

If there is anything risking your life, we will change your accommodation immediately. However if you were just unhappy with your accommodation on arrival to your host family’s we would find you a an alternative with in 2 weeks.
